This unit is approx 8 mos old. I works fine but when it comes on it makes too much noise. It is still under factory warranty. I have reached out to Kitchenaid and they have been less than helpful. I purchased an entire kitchen of their appliances for a complete makeover. I will never even consider Kitchenaid products again. Their warranty is seemingly worthless if you live in rural America. Really disappointed!

Bought this about a month ago to replace a Samsung that was nothing but trouble from the beginning. I decided against the door ice and water dispenser for that reason. However, I find the temperature in the refrigerator is no even and have frozen a few things when place near the back. Things can not be placed too close to the back as the shelves are not deep enough and even cans of pop will fall if placed too far back. I so wanted to love this and was hoping perhaps an "American" made fridge would be better but now I am having some doubts. Overall am rather disappointed with this purchase.

Happy with it overall. The water filling the ice trays is noisier than my last refrigerator but not too bad. The counter depth really makes my kitchen not feel so crowded! I love the slide out freezer shelves and they are removable for cleaning an extra bonus. I have noticed the door handles are loosening easier then I'd like to see but can be tightened with an Allen wrench easy enough. The refrigerator was a fair bit more than I wanted to spend but I liked the 10 year limited warranty on major parts.

This refrigerator has lots of storage space and the counter depth means that it doesn't stick out into the room like the elephant in the room! I love that the ice water dispenser is inside where it doesn't take up any interior space or take away from the clean lines on the exterior of the refrigerator. A bit noisy when making ice but overall a very nice refrigerator!

I bought this refrigerator 3 months ago. The freezer drawer was icing up around the top of the drawer. A repairman replaces the gasket around the drawer. Now ice is building up around the ice drawer.

We've had this refrigerator for almost 3 weeks and I am disappointed with the depth of each adjustable shelf. There are gaps between the back of each shelf and the refrigerator wall, that measure between 2-3", so caution is required in placing small items on the shelves. Several things have dropped . . . yogurt cups, cans of soda, individual containers of salad dressing . . . cleaning up the aftermath has not been pleasant. The wine rack is nice, but takes up too much space.

Overall pretty satisfied with the fridge. Love the interior water dispenser that keeps the front free of unsightly water drips. But I hate that the back of the interior shelves do not come close to the back of the fridge so that smaller items (like individual applesauce containers) fall down the back. For the amount of money the fridge costs, not asking too much to have full length shelves!

I studied reviews of refrigerators until I was numb. This refrigerator is a 10. I had an in the door ice and water before so was unsure if this would work out for me. It absolutely was the right decision. No more ice cubes dancing across the floor. The counter depth offers more than adequate storage space for our family of 4. I do a lot of cooking for the week on Sunday and it all fits. It is easy to keep clean inside and out.

In general I like my new refrigerator. If I designed it...here would be my changes. The inside filtered water dispenser is great because of how it is designed...it takes up less space in the overall refrigerator. However, we are big water drinker and if too many people get water at one time it is not cold--the reserve is not big enough. Secondly, the water dispenser is on the same side of the refrigerator with the door that has the seal strip, so when you only open that side to get water the door does not close without pushing it closed and when you do that the other door pops open and sometimes it doesn't close. You have to purposely close each door. If the water dispenser was on the other side with the door that doesn't have the seal strip you can lightly push the door shut. Also, I think if the deli drawer was split into two draws that would be helpful because you have to open both refrigerator doors to open the deli drawer. I keep my butter in the deli drawer and it would be nice to be able to only have to open one side and get into a deli drawer to pull out one item.

Please do not purchase this item. The door has already broken twice. The standard building grade appliance was more reliable then this very expensive unit. Disappointing. Same goes for KitchAid's dishwasher which does not clean dishes and has also broken a few times.

I've only just received this fridge, so it is far too early to determine long-term reliability. I previously had a side-by-side KitchenAid that failed after 3-years and had to be replaced, so I opted for this French Door design. It's my first french door, and I must admit that the added fridge space is quite impressive. Onto the review: Exterior style is quite impressive. While it looks almost 'odd' to not have exterior water/ice, it also creates a very clean look and I'm hoping the trade-off of added interior space, greater ice capacity and long-term ice/water reliability is worth it. Interior is rather 'basic' for such an expensive fridge, with simple shelving, exposed screw heads (in both the fridge and freezer), visible 'plumbing' (ie. you pull out the crisper drawers and you see the hoses behind it), and just two LED lights shining from the top. There are no fancy features: no temperature controlled cooling drawer (it is fully manual, meaning you just twist a dial to open or close cooling vents - that's it; I was expecting it was digitally controlled), no elaborate LED lighting, no multi-adjustable shelving, no door-within-a-door… not even a concealed area for eggs. The shelving is perhaps the most disappointing part. Many have already commented on the fact that there is a 'gap' at the back of each shelf allowing items to fall down, but I presume this is done to aid cooling circulation. Still annoying as other fridges don't do this. Rather than my old GE (or even my old KitchenAid Side-by-Side), the shelving is a 'ratchet' system, that provides rather limited range of flexibility. Like store shelves at Target or Wal-Mart, they lock into place in two spots per side (see images), but since the railing does not come all the way down, you can't put the shelf at a lower setting as the bottom ratchet will be loose (making the shelf unstable) and one stop up makes the bottom ratchet stick out, again making it unstable. It's difficult to explain in words, so I hope the pictures help. The freezer is a bit small, which is common for any French Door Counter Depth Fridge, but it does have a deep bin, one full-width rolling tray and another rolling tray, along with a good-size ice tray. That's the one benefit of the way the water and ice is set up in this fridge. The water is MUCH colder than my old side-by-side and the ice holds 2-3 times a typical French door, and the added benefit of more space in the fridge. The Samsung Fridges have an ice maker in the top left of the fridge and a 'shute' on the left door, heavily restricting actual fridge space. This fridge is great in that regard. So why four stars? It's not fancy on the inside, but it's functional, looks premium from the outside and KitchenAid offers strong support. So long as it proves reliable, it will have earned the four stars.

I have had my Kitchenaid black stainless french door refrigerator for fewer than 9 months. (I bought all Kitchenaid appliances for my new kitchen.) About 4 weeks ago the ice maker suddenly stopped working. A repairman was sent out; he was clueless about what to do, calling someone else to talk him through trouble shooting. He pulled the refrigerator out of its nook, nicking my new cabinet in the process. A second repairman came out a week later, said we need a new ice-maker, and that it would be available in a week. Two weeks later, the new ice maker was installed. Guess what? It doesn't work either. I think I got a lemon refrigerator. :( In every other way, it seems fine; but we specifially bought a refrigerator with an ice maker in the door because that's what we needed!!

Frigo bruit fort qui réveille la nuit !

Je l'ai acheté en octobre 2017. Chez JC Perreault St-Roch de l'Achigan, QC, Canada. 9 sème visite du technicien ce matin. 9 sème demi journée à ne pas me rendre au travail. -3 fois pour remplacer la porte du tiroir à viande qui tombait seul. Problème résolu. -7 fois pour constater un énorme bruit. Même bruit que le camion qui égalise la rue (charrue). Écoutez la vidéo. On va maintenant remplacer pour la 3ième fois le DAMPER. Les 2 autres fois le bruit a cesser pendant 2 semaines et c'est revenu. Le magasin attend le go de la compagnie pour le changer. Kitchennaid svp pouvez-vous me changer ce frigo ?

This product was purchased August 2017 at a local appliance shop. I was assured that I would like this product. It's okay but I think there are other less expensive models on the market that are just as good if not better. The French doors were not even when installed and unless the left side was closed first the door would stay ajar if not pressed tight. This is amended somewhat now since a tech was out on another matter but not fully corrected. The doors are not even and I doubt they ever will be. As other reviews noted the glass shelves do not extend to the back nor do they have an edge/lip to keep things from falling. In my opinion the fruit and vegetables bins are on the small side if that is an important feature for the family, And it something seeps behind the lid of the storage bin good luck getting it clean. Get a refrigerator thermometer too make sure the internal temperature is accurate. Now for the real issue. The supply chain for parts is pitiful. Repairs can take forever. It has been a month since I have had a working refrigerator. Part of the problem may be the tech's diagnosis but each time a part needs to replaced it is another 7-10 days to get the needed part. The only reason a gasket isn't blown in my brain is that the temperatures outside are conducive to keeping refrigerated items in coolers on a deck but that is ending as the temperature is due to rise. The appointment scheduled tomorrow (Thursday) is cancelled until next Wednesday as the supplier didn't ship the part ordered last Saturday. So if you get this product just expect that the service will take at least 10 days since it is probably not in stock if it is an electrical issue. Maybe someday they will be but in the meantime that is not the case.

I purchased all KitchenAid appliances for the new garden home I recently built. They are all outstanding, but the refrigerator is extra special. I really like all the features and the easy accessibility of the icemaker. I purchased all KitchenAid appliances, i.e., dishwasher, downdraft electric range, & refrigerator. Extremely happy with all!

I like how this fridge is tall and slim. It is well build and organized inside. Lots of drawer and shelf space. Love the water and ice feature!

I would recommend the refrigerator with reservation. If you are thinking of buying it, there are a few things I would tell you to consider. The interior shelves do not reach the back wall of the refrigerator so small items can fall off the shelf. The left door has a hinged seal. We have had trouble with the door closing since we got the refrigerator. You have to be diligent about making sure the left door is shut because the seal will get stuck and keep the door slightly ajar. Unfortunately the door alarm does not go off because the door is not wide open. This is a definite design flaw! Lastly, stainless steel is so hard to keep clean.

Could not be more pleased. Love the fact that the water and ice are inside. We needed a smaller refrigerator in order to relocate it to another area in the kitchen. This fit perfectly, but still gives us plenty of room to store everything we need. Handles are a beautiful touch.
